Tinner’s trail

We played Tinner’s trail on our gaming weekend. Kris abstained because it was a game by Martin Wallace, one of the three game designers he doesn’t like to play (the others are Stefan Feld and Reiner Knizia).

Tinner’s trail is a game about mining tin and copper in Cornwall, fighting against the water and selling tasty, tasty pasties. It’s an economical game where you try to get land cheap in auctions, mine it, and sell your goods high. It’s a fairly sober game with not a lot of things going on, which play run pretty fast.

I’m not that keen on economical games nor on auctions, but the fast gameplay kept it interesting. It was a bit too dry for my tastes, though. Almost towards the simulationist side of economics (Helloo Container!).
